I can’t tell you how important it is to prep your skin before moving with your actual makeup.
Preparing your skin is nothing but our regular cleanse-tone-moisturizer regime which ensures that your skin is glowing and plump before you slather on foundation or concealer.
Can these steps be followed everyday?
Yes…This are also basic skin care steps to be followed on every day basis for better skin.. Before going to bed don’t forget to Cleanse, scrub, tone and moisturize your skin..
Below are some steps which you need to follow to prep your skin before makeup.
Step 1 : Cleansing
Does a single type of cleanser go for all skin type??
A big “No”…. Always go for the one which suits your skin type..Dry skin types should use cream based cleanser as it helps in hydrating your skin as well.Oily skin types should use gel-based cleansers.. If you have combination skin, it means that your T-Zone(forehead and nose) is oily and other parts are normal or dry.
In this case, look for cleansers that are designed specifically for combination skin as these cleansers work to treat both oily and dry skin.
If you have sensitive skin that is easily irritated, look for the most gentle cleansers you can find. These will usually be made from plant oils.
If you have skin that is prone to breakouts, look for a cleanser that contains salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or tea tree oil to help keep those pimples at bay.
Step 2: Apply a toner
I advise not to overlook toner, it’s a very important step in your beauty regime. This is essential for all skin types especially oily acne prone skin types to reduce oil appearance.Avoid toners which contains alcohol as major ingredients, as they are typically too dry for skin..
Squeeze a bit of toner on to cotton ball and gently swipe it all over the face and neck..
STEP 3: Choose a right Moisturizer
This step is most important as it not only hydrates your skin but also helps achieve a smooth finish of makeup.. If it’s a daytime makeup make sure your moisturizer contains SPF 15 to protect your skin from the sun.
If you struggle with breakouts and/or oily skin look for oil-free moisturizers that are non-comedogenic.
If you have dry skin you can look for creams that are a bit thicker to wear during the day. A thicker cream will also give you a more dewy look.
The best way to apply moisturiser is to gently press the moisturizer in to your skin with the fingertips this will ensure that you don’t apply too much moisturiser and pressing the skin will also draw the blood to top of your skin, giving your skin a rosy glow.
Step 4: Lips preparation
Exfoliate your lips with clean, damp cloth..which helps to remove dry, dead skin that makes your lipstick look rough and uneven..Add moisturizer of you choice and allow it to set fo at least 10 min in order for the moisturizer to have adequate time to soak in to your lip.
